ADJUSTMENTS ADJUSTMENTS GENERAL________________________________________________________________ Replace, do not adjust, worn or damaged components. WARNING Do not wear jewelry or loose fitting clothing when making adjustments or repairs. To prevent injury, lower implements to the ground, disengage all drives, engage parking brake, stop engine and remove key from ignition switch before making any CAUTION adjustments or performing maintenance.
ADJUSTMENTS BRAKES _________________________________________________________________ Adjust brakes after replacing or servicing brake assembly, or if pedal travel becomes excessive. Loosen adjusting nuts (C). Adjust cable so brake pedal has 1 in. (25 mm) free (E) before brake pads engage brake disk. travel Tighten nut (C) to lock adjustment in place.
ADJUSTMENTS FORWARD / REVERSE SPEED ______________________________________________ Forward and reverse speeds are adjusted at the traction Start engine and check reverse travel speed with pedal. Set forward speed before adjusting reverse. engine at full throttle. Reverse speed should measure 5-6 mph (8-9 kph) To adjust forward speed: Stop engine.
ADJUSTMENTS CUTTING HEIGHT _________________________________________________________ Cutting height for decks can be adjusted from 1 to 4 in. (25-100 mm) in 1/2 in. (13 mm) increments. Actual cutting height may vary somewhat from the heights given depending on turf conditions and other factors. 1 1/2 Note: When cutting undulating areas, lower cutting heights may cause scalping.
ADJUSTMENTS STEERING TOE-IN _________________________________________________________ Turn wheels to straight ahead position. Loosen jam nuts (J) on both sides of tie rod (M). Turn tie rod (M) to provide proper toe-in. Toe-in must not exceed +1/16” (1.5 mm) (K). Retighten jam nuts. After adjusting tie rod, adjust steering cylinder by threading the rod (N in or out of ball joint so spindle arm (L) clears the stop on the axle by 1/32 to 3/32in.

MAINTENANCE 4.10 MUFFLER AND EXHAUST___________________________________________________ To protect from carbon monoxide poisoning, inspect the WARNING complete exhaust system regularly and always replace a defective muffler. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide that is toxic and can be fatal when inhaled. If you notice a change in the color or sound of the exhaust, stop the engine immediately.
