Shipping Carton damage. CAUTION The QX1000 is a secure product and any tampering can cause it to cease to function or operate in an unsecured manner. Remove the QX1000 from the shipping carton. Remove any protective plastic wrap and place the unit on a table or countertop.

QX1000 and Terminal Cable Connections Disconnect power from the terminal or ECR. Position the QX1000 face down on a soft, smooth surface to avoid damaging the display. Connect the modular plug on the cable to the modular jack on the rear of the QX1000 device.
Connecting via USB Connecting via The USB version of the QX1000 can also connect to a terminal or a host PC using a coiled USB cable (VPN WCL115013-A). When connecting to a PC via a USB port, the device, requires the additional installation of device drivers.

The cardholder slot in the QX1000 has a set of contacts. The SAM card has a notch on one corner to ensure that it fits into the connector base in only one way; the QX1000 has a matching notch cast into the backside of the SAM compartment door to ensure the SAM card is positioned correctly when the cover is closed.
ETUP Using the Fixed Stand Adapter Using the Fixed The optional fixed stand adapter holds the QX1000 securely on a countertop. The Stand Adapter unit can be removed from the stand adapter for handheld operation. Attaching the Stand Figure 7 shows how to install a stand adapter onto the reader.
Using the Unit The QX1000 is only active when signaled by an application for the conduction of a contactless smart card transaction. When active, the QX1000 displays the default message PLEASE PRESENT CARD.

Never use thinner, trichloroethylene, or ketone-based solvents – they can deteriorate plastic or rubber parts. Because the QX1000 can be damaged by liquid, do not spray cleaners or other solutions directly onto the display. Always apply the cleaner to a cloth before cleaning the device.
