Block Transfer
Downloaded font data must be transferred in increments, or blocks. Serial Matrix Control
Code ESC + introduces the font data which follows the command sequence. ESC + command
must follow the ESC & Downloaded Character command sequence. Send the block transfer
command using the following format:
NOTE: Do not enter the bracket pairs in the command sequence; they are provided in
this Appendix for clarity in distinguishing parameters.
E-2
The two-byte label identifying the font by mode (m) and pitch (n). Values
form can range from 10 hex to 2F hex; values for n can range from 00 hex to
04 hex (or 30 hex to 34 hex). Select a label that differs from the resident mn
values listed in control code ESC X, Print Mode/Pitch Selection on page
6-48.
When assigning new labels, be cautious of the following:
1.
In order to make space for a new font, the printer con-
troller may replace the least utilized font with the new font.
2.
If the new label is identical to a resident label, the down
loaded font will override the resident font.
3.
If the label is identical to a previously downloaded font,
the newest downloaded font will replace the previous font.
s1s2 defines the size, in total bytes, of the incoming font to make memory
space available for the new font.
s1 = The least significant byte of the total data bytes of the incoming font.
s2 = The most significant byte of the total data bytes of the incoming font.
where: s2 x 256 + s1 is equal to the total number of data bytes in the incom
ing font. If s1 = s2 = 0 the sequence is ignored.
Values for s1 and s2 must be specified in the ESC & control code expres
sion. During the Block Data Transfer, the total data transferred for the
incoming font will be compared to the size data provided in s1s2. If
matched, the font will be downloaded into the printer font directory. If not
matched, the downloaded sequence will be ignored. Any command pa
rameters outside the valid range will cause the printer to abort the down
loading sequence.
