E. Chimney Requirements
When planning your fireplace location, the chimney con-
struction and necessary clearances must be considered.
The fireplace system and chimney components have
been tested to provide flexibility in construction. The fol-
lowing figures are the minimum distances from the base
of the fireplace.

Minimum overall straight height is 6 ft 4 in. If the
fireplace is freestanding and a minimum of 10 ft from
a combustible structure. See Figure 6.1
•
Chimney must extend 2 ft (.6 m) above any portion
of the roof within 10 ft (3 m) of the chimney. Refer to
Figure 8.7
