Swimming in Sydney Harbour

76.
One of the greatest experiences is swimming off the back off the yacht. There is a boarding
ladder, walk through transom and fresh water transom shower to make this an easier thing to do.
77.
There are sharks and other hazards in the water of Sydney Harbour, whilst a shark attack is a
remote possibility; it is recommended that swimming only occur in clear water areas during hours of
bright sunlight. Suggested areas for swimming in Sydney Harbour are:
Balmoral
Rose Bay
Chowder Bay
Vaucluse

Swimming in the upper reaches of bays such as Lane Cove or Bantry Bay is not recommended
due to the risk of shark attack.

Make sure the boat is securely anchored or moored
Ensure the area is free from hazards such as other boats
Ensure the engine is turned off
