MAINTENANCE

Vehicle Immersion

NOTICE: If your vehicle becomes immersed, major engine damage can result if the machine is not
thoroughly inspected. Take the vehicle to your dealer before starting the engine.
If it's impossible to take your RANGER to a dealer before starting it, follow the steps outlined
below.
1. Move the vehicle to dry land or at the very least, to water
below the footrests.
2. Disconnect the fuel pump wires.
3. Remove the spark plug.
4. Place a clean container under the engine and loosen the
carburetor drain screw two turns.
5. Dry any water present in the air box. Filter replacement is
required if water is present.
6. Thoroughly dry the air pre-cleaner located under the hood.
7. Turn the engine over several times using the electric start.
8. Inspect the drained fuel for water or sediment.
9. Dry the spark plug and reinstall it, or install a new plug.
10. Tighten the carburetor drain screw.
11. Reconnect the fuel pump wires.
12. Attempt to start the engine. If necessary, repeat the drying procedure.
13. Take the vehicle to your dealer for service as soon as possible, whether you succeed in
starting it or not.
