GEAR DRIVE SYSTEM
5. Remove the right and left rear tires (Fig. 436).
6. Shift the forward/reverse lever to the forward pos-
ition. This will allow enough clearance to remove
the hairpin cotter. Remove the hairpin cotter that

secures the shift linkage to the shift fork (Fig. 437).

7. Slide the shift linkage forward away from the trans-
mission (Fig. 438).

8. Support the bottom of the transmission with jack
supports or a hydraulic fl oor jack (Fig. 439).
