Complete the following steps to connect the 20-pin ribbon cable to the server
system board or riser card:
1. Connect one end of the 20-pin ribbon cable to the Remote Supervisor
Adapter II connector (sometimes referred to as the system-management
connector) on the system board or riser card. The 20-pin ribbon cable
connector ends are keyed for proper installation. For the connector location
on your server system board, see Table 2 or the documentation that comes
with your server.

Connecting the 20-pin ribbon cable to the Remote
Supervisor Adapter II
Complete the following steps to connect the 20-pin ribbon cable to the Remote
Supervisor Adapter II.
Attention: You can damage the system-management connector on the Remote
Supervisor Adapter II if the 20-pin ribbon cable is not properly connected to it.
When you connect the ribbon cable to the Remote Supervisor Adapter II, be
sure that the contrasting color stripe on the ribbon cable is closest to the
adapter edge that has the PCI connector (gold edge connectors).
1. Before connecting the 20-pin ribbon cable to the Remote Supervisor
Adapter II, connect the cable to the server system board or riser card and
install the Remote Supervisor Adapter II in the server.
2. Connect the free end of the 20-pin ribbon cable to the system-management
connector on the Remote Supervisor Adapter II. The 20-pin ribbon cable
connector ends are keyed for proper installation.
