Driving Through Water

Before driving through water, stop and make sure that:
• The water is not more than about 10 inches (25 cm) deep.
• The water is not flowing too fast. Deep rushing water can sweep you
downstream. Even very shallow rushing water can wash the ground
from under your tires and cause you to lose traction and possibly roll
over.
• Both banks have gradual slopes and good traction, so you can enter the
stream and exit safely.
• The surface under the water appears to provide good traction.
Remember, the water may hide hazards, such as rocks, holes, mud, or
slippery vegetation.
If you decide you can safely cross the water:
• Proceed at a slow, steady speed.
• Watch for submerged obstacles, including slippery rocks and holes.
• Avoid getting the spark plug or air cleaner wet, as this would cause the
engine to stop.

Driving at Night

If you drive your Honda MUV at night, always drive slower and more
cautiously than you would in daylight. Also remember to lower your
headlight beam if another vehicle comes toward you (see page 18).
