Chapter 3. General information
This chapter provides general information that applies to all machine types supported by this manual.
Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox
The Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox program helps you maintain your computer, improve computing security,
diagnose computer problems, get familiar with the innovative technologies provided by Lenovo, and get
more information about your computer. You can use the diagnostics feature of the Lenovo ThinkVantage
Toolbox program to test devices, diagnose computer problems, create bootable diagnostic media, update
system drivers, and view system information.
• To run the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox program on the Windows 7 operating system, click Start ® All
Programs ® Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools ® System Health and Diagnostics. Follow the instructions
on the screen.
• To run the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox program on the Windows Vista operating system or the Windows
XP operating system, click Start ® All Programs ® ThinkVantage ® Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
For additional information about running the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox program, refer to the Lenovo
ThinkVantage Toolbox help system.
ThinkVantage Productivity Center
Note: The ThinkVantage Productivity Center program is only available on computers preinstalled with the
Windows Vista operating system or the Windows XP operating system from Lenovo.
The ThinkVantage Productivity Center program contains information sources and tools designed to make
computing easy and secure. It provides easy access to various technologies, such as:
• Client Security Solution (available on some models)
• Power Manager
• Product Recovery
• Rescue and Recovery
• System Update
To access the ThinkVantage Productivity Center program, click Start ® All Programs ® ThinkVantage
® Productivity Center.
Lenovo Welcome
Note: The Lenovo Welcome program is only available on computers preinstalled with the Windows 7
operating system or the Windows Vista operating system from Lenovo.
The Lenovo Welcome program introduces some innovative built-in features of Lenovo to you and guides you
through some important setup tasks to help you make the most of your computer.
Lenovo Solution Center
The Lenovo Solution Center program enables you to troubleshoot and resolve computer problems. It
combines diagnostic tests, system information collection, security status, and support information, along
