5. For the first four drives, ports 0 - 3, connect one 4-port combined end of an internal
cables to the upper connector. If you are using more than four drives without using
an expander backplane, connect the second cable to the lower connector. See the
following figure.
Notes:
To prevent throughput problems, use the cables provided or use the shortest possible
cable. Do not use cables longer than one meter. Decrease the maximum length by
one foot if using a backplane.
Do not use cross-over cables.
The cables are labeled with the word "SAS," but only SATA drives are supported.
Do not attempt to install a SAS drive. Only connect to a SATA drive or to a
SAS/SATA backplane. The RAID Controller SRCSATAWB uses an advanced
software stack that allows connections to SATA drives either directly or via SAS or
SATA backplanes with or without expanders.
Route the cables carefully. Check that controller and cables are all properly
attached.
