    Read, understand and follow all instructions for the charger, battery, vehicle and any equipment used near the battery and charger. Study all of the battery manufacturer’s specific precautions while charging and recommended rates of charge. Determine the voltage of the battery by referring to the vehicle owner’s manual and make sure that the output voltage selector switch is set to the correct voltage.

    For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip from the battery charger to the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip to the vehicle frame or engine block at a distance away from the battery.

    Battery type Button Use this button to set the type of battery to be charged. • Standard – Set the button to 12V STANDARD or 6V STANDARD. • deep-Cycle – Set the button to 12V DEEP CYCLE. • AGM – Set the button to 12V AGM/GEL.
  • Page 9 The voltage is maintained at a level determined by the BATTERY TYPE selected. notE: The maintain mode technology utilized in DieHard chargers allows you to safely charge and maintain a healthy battery for extended periods of time. However, problems with the battery, electrical problems in the vehicle, improper connections or other unanticipated conditions could cause excessive voltage draws.
  • Page 10 Cool down – After cranking, the charger enters a mandatory 3 minute cool down state. During this period, no settings can be changed. The buttons are ignored. The digital display indicates the remaining cool down time in seconds. It starts at 180 and counts down to 0.

    General Charging notes Fan: The charger is designed to control its cooling fan for efficient operation. Consequentially, it is normal for the fan to start and stop when maintaining a fully charged battery. The fan does not run in Tester Mode. Keep the area near the charger clear of obstructions to allow the fan to operate efficiently.

Double check all connections, the AC outlet for a full 120 volts, the charger clips for correct polarity and the quality of the connections from the cables to the clips and from the clips to the battery system.

    Limpie los terminales de la batería antes de cargar la batería. Durante la limpieza, evite que la corrosión producida por aire tenga contacto con sus ojos, nariz y boca. El cargador carece de interruptor para encendido y apagado. Los controles para encendido y apagado se controlan conectando 71225 en el tomacorriente de 120V C.C. y sólo después de que las conexiones de la batería se han realizado.
