    To extend your wireless coverage, all you need to do is to add new AP-400 devices to your wireless network and set them to function as repeaters. Computers on the network connect to the AP-400 with the strongest signal, and reach the router or the wired network through the AirTies Mesh Network.

    • For each wireless PC (running Windows) that you would like to connect to the AP-400, go to Start-Settings-Network Connections-Wireless Network Connection-View Wireless Networks and connect to the wireless network named AIRTIES_AP-400. Preparing for Installation The AirTies AP-400's DHCP feature is not enabled by default and thus it cannot assign an IP address to the PC connected to it.
  • Page 9 In the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window, enter 192.168.2.10 in the "IP Address" field and 255.255.255.0 in the "Subnet Mask" field. The IP address of the AP-400 is 192.168.2.254. Therefore, the IP address of the computer should be in the 192.168.2.x range.

    In the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window, enter 192.168.2.10 in the "IP Address" field and 255.255.255.0 in the "Subnet Mask" field. The IP address of the AP-400 is 192.168.2.254. Therefore, the IP address of the computer should be in the 192.168.2.x range.

    Configuring the AP-400 as a Repeater 4.3.2. To use the AP-400 as a repeater, go to "Operation Mode" under the "WIRELESS" menu and select "Repeater" as the Operation mode.The following diagram is an example of AP-400's use as a repeater.
  • Page 15 In the "Repeater Settings" page, you will find a list of available access points and repeaters the AP-400 can connect to. Check the box to the left of the access point / repeater you would like the AP-400 to connect to. The access point will appear in the list below, titled "Access Points to Connect to".

    In this window, after you check the "Activate Bridge/Repeater Connections" box, check the box to the left of the AP-400 that you have already configured and click "Save". The RT-211 and the AP-400 will now recognize each other. At the point where the wireless signal from the RT-211 weakens, the AP-400 will boost the signal and extend the coverage area.
  • Page 17 Note: The AP-400 does not do wireless broadcast in Bridge mode. To configure and operate the AP-400 in Bridge mode, you need to be directly connected to the AP-400. When you select Bridge as the "Operation Mode", the "Access Point List" page will come up.

    MAC Address Filtering allows you to control which network cards can connect to the AirTies AP-400. For your wireless network security, it is recommended that both MAC address filtering and one of WPA, WPA2 or WEP wireless encryption protocols be activated.

    WEP Security Settings 4.4.3 The AirTies AP-400 supports WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption in addition to the WPA encryption standards. If any of the devices in your wireless network does not support WPA, it is recommended that you choose WEP encryption.

    To enable Access Control, go to "Access Control" under the "WIRELESS" menu of the AP- 400 web interface. In the window that appears, you can enter the MAC addresses of the devices that are permitted to access the AP-400. No device other than those permitted can connect to the AP-400.

    You can see the version of the firmware that is currently on your AP-400 on the "Welcome" screen that appears as soon as you login to the Web interface.

    Reset To reset the AP-400 to the default factory settings, while the device is on, press and hold the reset button at the bottom of the device with the tip of a pencil or similar pointed object for 5 seconds.
