Replacing the SODIMM Memory Module

The SODIMM memory module in the WD Sentinel server is "cold swappable." This means
that the WD Sentinel server must be shut down prior to your module replacement. To shut
down your WD Sentinel server, follow the steps outline in "Shutting Down and Rebooting the
Server" on page 40.
What you'll Need:
Phillips screwdriver
Replacement SODIMM Memory module
Replacing a SODIMM Memory Module
1.
Shut down the server.
2.
Disconnect all external connections.
3.
Follow the steps outlined in "Removing the Unit Cover" on page 84.
4.
On the top of the unit, loosen and remove the six (6) screws holding the PCBA unit in
place.

Important: Do not remove the screws from the Cross Brace Member.
5.
Carefully lift the PCBA up and away from the rest of the unit.
6.
Disconnect all cables attached to the assembly, then gently place the flipped assembly
on a stable flat surface ().
WARNING!
Ensure that the connector clears the plate when removing the
assembly.
