Set Up Time
Click the
Time
tab to set up the time. You can check the current time, manually set the server's date and time, or
have them set automatically using a network time server.
To set the time zone:
1 Choose a time zone from the

To set the date and time manually:
1 Choose

and select the date and time.
2 Click Apply.
To sync the date and time with NTP server:
1 Choose
Synchronize with a NTP
server from the drop-down menu.
2 Click
Update Now
to make sure your Synology DiskStation can successfully synchronize time with the server.
3 Click Apply.
Note:
Make sure a valid DNS server IP has been entered at
DiskStation is connected to the Internet.
Network Time Protocol (NTP) is used to synchronize the time of all clients and servers over a data network.
Below are a few recommended NTP servers:
 time.apple.com
 time.asia.apple.com
 time.euro.apple.com
 time.nist.gov

Language
Click the
Language
tab to set the language for Synology DiskStation Manager, notifications, and specify the
codepage for Unicode filename conversion.
Display
Language: Choose your preferred display language, or have it the same as your default browser
setting.
Notification
Language: Set your preferred language for email and instant messaging notifications from
Synology DiskStation.
 Codepage: Synology DiskStation uses Unicode to avoid file inaccessibility from computers using different
languages. But for the following devices or applications to use Synology DiskStation services without problem,
you need to choose the appropriate codepage for them:
 Computers without Unicode support
 Applications that convert non-Unicode strings to Unicode, such as FTP service, UPnP support, music
metadata indexing
NTP Service
Click the
NTP Service
tab to have your Synology DiskStation serve as a network time server to synchronize time
between different network devices and the DiskStation over network.
To enable the NTP service:
