PAGE OFFSETS (D)
Page Offset is a delay count used to accurately position the document at the scan window after
loading ( using Auto scan mode ). The count varies with scanning resolution and scanning
speed. When Page Offset is adjusted accurately, there will be no significant underscan or
overscan and the margin appearing on the scanned image of the document will be the same size
as on the actual document. The Page Offsets can be set either manually or automatically.
RESOLUTION
----------
To set manually , press the <S> key and the prompt "RESOLUTION" will appear. Select one
of the resolution indices ( a letter A-H ) appearing in the leftmost display comumn. Next , the
prompt "FULL:" will appear. Enter a four digit hex value to be used for the full speed page
offset. Finally, the prompt "REDUCED:" will appear. Enter the four digit hex value to be
used for the reduced speed page offset. The values entered will now be displayed in the table.
The correct values can be arrived at iteratively by scanning and observing the margin size on
the scanned image.
To set automatically, press <A> and the message " Feed in Black Document " will appear.
This should be a dark blue or black A size document. Align it to the rightmost edge of the
active scan area marked by a black line on the scanner top plate. Page Offset determination
will now proceed automatically. The determined offsets will appear dynamically in the table
as they are calculated.
Press <X> to return to the Diagnostic Tests menu.
