Configuring the Server Blade
This section contains information about configuring the server blade and
installing the operating system.
The operating system can be installed in various ways:
– Local installation with or without the ServerView Installation Manager
You can find information on local installation in the following sections.
– Remote installation using console redirection via the user interface of the
ServerView Management Blade
You can find information on console redirection in the manual "PRIMERGY
BX900 Blade Server Systems ServerView Management Blade S1 User
Interface Description". Apart from this, the operating system installation is
carried out in the same way as a local installation.
– Importing the clone images from an image repository to the desired
server blades.

5.3.1

Preparing for local installation

Connect the monitor, mouse, keyboard and a DVD drive to the port on the server
blade control panel with the aid of the special Y cable. See
on page
40.

Make sure that the energy saving functions are disabled in the Power
menu of the BIOS Setup during operation, and that the DVD drive has
been activated as a boot medium.
5.3.2

Configuring the onboard SATA controller

A 6-port SATA controller is integrated on the system board. You can configure
the onboard SATA controller either before or during installation with the
ServerView Installation Manager. Using the ServerView Installation Manager is
recommended.
