– This System can play only baseline JPEG files*.
Progressive JPEG files* or lossless JPEG files* cannot
be played.
* Baseline JPEG format:
Progressive JPEG format: Used for web.
Lossless JPEG format:
– This System may not play back JPEG files properly if
they are recorded on the devices other than digital still
camera.
– During slide-show playback, zoom cannot be operated.
• For MPEG-4 playback...
– This System can play back MPEG-4 files with the
extension code <.asf> (regardless of the letter case—
upper/lower).
– This System supports MPEG-4 files whose resolution is
352 x 288 pixels or less.
– Some recorded files may not be able to be played back
depending on file characteristics, kind of digital still/
video cameras, or recording conditions.
– You cannot use the following functions—One Touch
Replay, Slow motion, A-B Repeat, Program Play and
Random Play.
• For DVD-VR playback...
– When making a disc, use the UDF-Bridge format.
– For details about DVD-VR format and playlist, refer to
the manual of the recording equipment.
– If you use a DVD-RAM with a cartridge, take the disc
out of the cartridge before inserting.
– You cannot use reverse slow motion, Program Play, and
Random Play.
• For DivX playback...
– This System can play back DivX files with the extension
code <.divx> <.div> <.avi> (regardless of the letter
case—upper/lower).
– When making a disc, use the UDF-Bridge format.
"Multi-border" is not supported.
– The System supports DivX 5.x, 4.x and 3.11.
– The System supports the DivX files whose resolution is
720 x 480 pixels or less (30 fps), and 720 x 576 pixels or
less (25 fps).
– Audio stream should conform to MPEG 1 Audio Layer-
2 or MPEG Audio Layer-3 (MP3).
– The System does not support GMC (Global Motion
Compression).
– The file encoded in the interlaced scanning mode may
not be played back correctly.
– You cannot use the following functions—One Touch
Replay, Slow motion, A-B Repeat, Program Play and
Random Play.
Used for digital cameras,
web, etc.
An old type and rarely used
now.
Daily Operations—Sound & Other Adjustments

Adjusting the Sound:
• This function also affects the sound through the
headphones.
Presetting Automatic DVD Video Sound Increase Level:
• This does not function for DVD-VR, DivX, and MPEG-4.
Changing the Color System and Scanning Mode:
• You cannot change the scanning mode to progressive in the
following cases:
– When your TV does not support the progressive video
input.
– When you have not connected your TV to the system
using a component video cord.
Setting the Clock:
• "0:00" will flash on the display until you set the clock.
• The clock may gain or lose 1 to 2 minutes per month. If this
happens, reset the clock.
Unique Disc Operations
Selecting the Audio Track:
• On some DVD Videos, you cannot change audio languages
while playing back.
Special Effect Playback:
• During slow-motion playback, no sound will be
reproduced.
• While zoomed in, the picture may look coarse.
Advanced Disc Operations
Programming the Playing Order—Program Play:
– While programming steps...
Your entry will be ignored if you have tried to program
an item number that does not exist on the disc (for
example, selecting track 14 on a disc that only has 12
tracks).
– For SVCD/VCD/CD loaded on the other tray than the
current one, the System may prompt for the group
number entry as well, however, these entries will be
ignored during playback.
• The programmed contents will remain until you erase it.
• While the PROGRAM indicator is on, you cannot change
the disc to play. (DISC 1 – 5 on the remote control and 3
on the main unit do not work.)
Playing Repeatedly—Repeat Play:
• A-B Repeat can be used within the same title while playing
a DVD Video, and within the same track for the other
discs.
