    GENERAL SAFETY RULES Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term "power tool" in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool. To reduce the risk of injury, user must read instruction manual.

    Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery. Avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seek additional medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting battery pack. Inserting the battery pack into power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

    2. Before using a battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on (1) the battery charger, (2) the battery pack, and (3) the tool. To reduce the risk of injury, use a Porter-Cable charger to charge a Porter-Cable battery pack. Other types of batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage.

    ASSEMBLY NOTE: This tool is shipped completely assembled. No assembly time or tools are required. ANTI-SPLINTER BASE INSERT INSTALLATION REMOVE THE BATTERY. Use the anti-splinter base insert to reduce chipping and splintering of the top fibers of plywood, paneling, and other splinter- prone materials.
  • Page 12 BLADE INSTALLATION Remove the anti-splinter insert, if installed. Gently squeeze the switch trigger until the blade shaft moves slowly.     OPERATION TO START AND STOP THE SAW Make sure that the power circuit voltage is the same as that shown on the specification plate on the saw, and that saw switch is "OFF". Connect the battery pack. Squeeze the trigger switch (A) Fig. 9 to start the motor.

    HOLD THE SAW AS ILLUSTRATED IN FIG. 11. One of the distinctive and important features of the Porter-Cable jigsaw is the ability to start the cut (in wood only) without drilling holes first. This is especially important when making cutouts for electrical outlets in finished walls, openings in cabinet tops for sinks, and openings for plumbing fixtures.
