Step 9. Installing the CD-RW and DVD software

There are three software applications that you must install in order to use the
CD-RW and DVD Video functions of your drive. All of these are included on the
IBM CD-RW/ DVD-ROM Software and User's Guide CD.
The IBM CD-RW/DVD-ROM Software and User's Guide CD contains the following
software applications:
v Intervideo WinDVD, to support DVD video playback
v IBM RecordNow, to support traditional CD authoring
v IBM Drive Letter Access (DLA), to support drag-and-drop CD recording
v UDF Reader Software for reading DLA discs in other computers
Windows XP has built-in drag-and-drop support. This will work with your drive
with no additional software. If you install DLA, the operating system built-in
support is replaced by the DLA function, but can be enabled from the properties
menu on the drive letter.
To install these applications, perform the following steps:
1. Insert the IBM CD-RW/DVD-ROM Software and User's Guide CD into your
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive. A browser automatically starts.
2. In the browser, click RecordNow, click Drive Letter Access, and then click
WinDVD.
3. Restart your computer.
4. If the browser does not start, open a command window and enter the following
for each application, where e is the drive letter of your CD-RW/DVD
Combination Drive:
e:\launch.bat

computer instead of using an analog audio cable. This usually results in better
