Scanning Codes
Point the scanning window at a target code and hold it 50 to 150 mm (2.0 to 6.0
inches) away from the code. Keep the QS20H stationary in a position where the
code lies within the scanning area between the right and left pointers and where
the center pointer is on the centerline parallel to the right or left edge of the code,
and then press the trigger switch.
When the QS20H has read the code successfully, the reading confirmation LED
will illuminate in green and the beeper sounds.
• The triple pointers demarcate the left-to-right scanning range.
pointers almost come onto the centerline parallel to the upper or lower
edge of the code when the scanning distance is 70 to 80 mm. If the
scanning distance is more than or less than that range, however, those
pointers will deviate from the actual centerline parallel to the upper or
lower edge of the code.
• The illumination LED will turn on when the ambient environment is dark or
the target code cannot be read easily.
• If the QS20H fails to read due to specular effects or other factors, change
the scanning angle of the scanning window or the distance from codes,
and try it again. (Specular effects occur when the reflection of the light
from the label surface becomes excessively strong. This can easily happen
when the reflecting surface is polished or covered with vinyl.)
• Allow only a single code to come within the scanning range. If two or more
codes lie within the scanning range at the same time, the QS20H may fail
to read or continue reading those codes alternately.
