Possible Cause
The screen is too light or too
dark. The contrast and/or
brightness need to be adjusted.
The screen has overheated.
Possible Cause
You are using the wrong
password.
You are entering the wrong
response phrase.
You are not entering the correct
punctuation.
Solution
• Adjust the contrast using
the Fn + < or > keys.
• Adjust the brightness
using the Fn + arrow up
or Fn + arrow down.
Move the device away from
the heat source (such as
direct sunlight) and allow it
to cool.
NOTE: Prolonged exposure
to direct sunlight may cause
your screen to temporarily
darken.
Solution
Enter the correct password
or move to the next stage in
the password process by
entering the wrong
password five times in a
row.
Enter the correct response
phrase or more to the next
stage in the password
process by entering the
wrong response five times in
a row.
Compaq security passwords
are punctuation-sensitive.
Type the punctuation exactly
as it was typed when you
established the password.
