    Basic Steps for Shooting and Playback Preparation 1 Insert the Battery Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover. Insert the included EN-EL12 Battery latch battery (rechargeable Li- ion battery). Use the edge of the battery to push the orange battery latch in the direction indicated by the arrow ( 1 ), and fully insert the battery ( 2 ).

We recommend using a tripod to stabilize the camera when shooting in dark surroundings.

    Basic Shooting Settings Using the Self-timer The camera is equipped with a 10-second and 2-second timer for self-portraits. This feature is useful for reducing the effects of camera shake that occurs when pressing the shutter-release button. When using the self-timer, use of a tripod is recommended.
