FLOATING hINGE POSITION TIPS
• To prevent heat loss and promote even cooking, do not open the lid
frequently.
• Do not overfill the appliance; it will hold 2 to 3 servings comfortably.
• When first cooking a particular food, check for doneness several minutes
before suggested time; if necessary adjust the time.
• If cooking more than one piece of food, try to have them similar in size and
thickness.
• Remember that since the appliance is cooking from both sides, cooking
time will probably be shorter than expected. Watch carefully to avoid
overcooking.
• For added flavor, add dry seasonings before grilling or marinate foods before
cooking.
USING ThE OPEN COOKING SURFACE
1. Raise the lid by the handle until it stops.
2. Press the hinge release button on the bottom right side of the handle and
lower the lid until the cooking surface is fully opened.
Note: When attaching the plates and opening the cooking surface, be sure the
appliance is not plugged in and is at room temperature.
3. Attach the plates and place the drip tray as instructed on page 4.
4. Unwind the cord and plug it into a standard electrical outlet. The red light
on the left front corner will turn on (see illustration E).
5. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired setting (see COOKING
CHARTS on pages 7-10 for suggested settings) and allow the appliance to
preheat to the selected temperature. (See PREHEATING on page 5.)
6. Place food to be cooked on either plate of the open cooking surface.
Important: Do not overload the plates.
7. Allow food to cook for the desired time, flipping halfway through, if
necessary. If desired, use a kitchen timer.
Note: Cooking times may vary from the times listed in the COOKING CHARTS.
Important: Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
8. After the selected time the food should be done. If you would prefer longer
cooking, simply follow the steps beginning at step 6.
9. Remove food using the plastic spatula provided or a silicone-coated
spatula.
Important: Always use heatproof plastic, silicone or wood utensils to avoid
scratching the nonstick surface of the plates. Never use metal skewers,
tongs, forks or knives.

10. Unplug to turn the appliance off.
Important: The heat continues to be ON until the appliance is unplugged.
11. Allow drip tray to cool completely before removing. Wash and dry the drip
tray after each use.
Caution: Do not attempt to remove the plates while the appliance is hot.
Always allow them to cool to room temperature before removing for
cleaning.

Care and Cleaning

This appliance contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified
service personnel.
CLEANING
Caution: To avoid accidental burns, allow appliance to cool thoroughly
before cleaning.
1. Before cleaning, unplug grill from outlet and allow to cool.
Important: heat will continue to be ON until the appliance is unplugged.
2. Place drip tray into drip tray slot as directed on page 5. Use plastic spatula to
scrape off any excess fat and food particles left on the cooking plates; runoff
will drip into the drip tray.
3. To remove the plates, press the plate release button and lift forward and up to
disengage the plate from the notches at the back of the appliance.
4. You may wash the plates by hand in warm, soapy water or in the dishwasher.
Always dry thoroughly with an absorbent paper towel before reattaching.
Note: To remove stubborn buildup, use a nylon or nonmetallic scrubbing pad to
clean the grill plates.
Important: Do not use metallic scrubbing pads, steel wool or any abrasive
cleaners to clean any part of your grill; use only nylon or nonmetallic
scrubbing pads.
5. Remove the drip tray, empty and wash in warm, soapy water or the
dishwasher (top-rack only); dry thoroughly with a paper towel or cloth.
6. To clean the lid, wipe with a warm, damp sponge and dry with a soft, dry
cloth.
Important: Do not immerse body of appliance in water or any other liquid.
Note: Any servicing requiring disassembly other than the above cleaning must
be performed by a qualified electrician.
STORAGE
Always make sure the appliance is clean and dry before storing.
