Piston and cylinder – removal

Remove:
• cylinder cover
• carburettor (see "Carburettor – removal")
• silencer
• spark plug
• fuel tank (applies to 340, 345)

Unbolt the vibration damping spring from the hand
grip.

Undo the four cylinder bolts and lift the cylinder off
carefully.
Models 340, 345
Undo the four cylinder bolts from the underside
and lift the cylinder off carefully.

Cover the opening in the crankcase.

Remove the circlips from the ends of the gudgeon
pin and press it out. Then lift off the piston.

Remove the bearing from the little end of the
connecting rod.

If replacing the cylinder:
Unscrew the decompression valve. Remove the
intake system, see "Air intake system – removal".
