    5. STARTUP AND INITIAL TESTING Use of Standard Power Supply The unit is powered by either 4 AA alkaline or 4 AA NiCad rechargeable (optional) batteries. Ensure the rechargeable batteries are completely charged before operating (you must not charge the batteries inside of the device). If the battery is completely discharged, the battery indicator blinks will turn red.

    The SENTINEL can be connected to an external monitor or video recorder. The video output is combined with the multifunctional interface connector. Use the cable that is included in the device delivery set to connect the SENTINEL to external devices Testing the Unit’s Readiness 1.

    7. SYSTEM CONTROLS The ON-OFF control button is used not only to turn on and off the device, but to activate the MENU as well. One short press on this button activates the screen menu that controls brightness and contrast of the screen. An extended press of this button in the main mode turns the device off.

    8. DISPLAY In the main mode display provides an image of the observed object. Permanently depicted service information includes the battery status indicator and zoom number (if different from 1x). Information about image presentation appears for five seconds after this parameter is changed. In the menu mode the user can control brightness and contrast settings.
