TAKING CARE OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS

ENGINE WILL NOT
START
1.
Check battery and
fuse.
(power equipment side)

Check control
positions.

3.
Check fuel.
4.
Remove and
inspect spark
plugs.
5.
Check engine oil level.
6.
Take engine to an
authorized Honda
servicing dealer, or
refer to shop manual.
ENGINE LACKS
POWER
1.
Check air filter.
2.
Take engine to an
authorized Honda
servicing dealer, or
refer to shop manual.

Possible Cause
Battery discharged.
Fuse burnt out.
Fuel valve CLOSED or
OFF.
(if equipped)
Engine switch OFF.
Out of fuel.
Spark plugs faulty,
fouled, or improperly
gapped.
Low oil level caused Oil
Alert to stop engine.
(if equipped)
Carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
Possible Cause
Filter element(s)
clogged.
Carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
Correction
Recharge battery.
Replace fuse.
Move fuel valve to
OPEN or ON.
Turn engine switch
to ON.
Refuel.
Clean, gap, or
replace spark plugs

Add oil (p. 18).

as necessary.
