Luggage compartment

Unlocking the upper tailgate of the smart
fortwo coupé
Danger of poisoning!
Keep the tailgate closed while
the vehicle is in motion. Otherwise,
exhaust fumes could get into the vehi
cle interior and poison you.
Press button (A) on the remote control
for 2 seconds.

unlock the tailgate mechanically.
or
press the unlock button (B) on the in
side.
Opening with the unlocking button
Press the unlocking button.
> The tailgate is unlocked.
Fold the upper flap of the tailgate up
wards.
>Note!
This function only can be used when the
central locking system is deactivated
and the vehicle is at a standstill.

objects in the interior or luggage com
partment. Vehicle occupants could be
injured by objects being thrown around
in the vehicle in the event of:
Severe braking
A change of direction
An accident
Even if you follow all the loading
guidelines, the load will increase the
risk of injury in the event of an acci
