Problem
The ink film runs out quickly.
The base unit beeps.
The speakerphone is not
working.
I cannot page a cordless
handset or base unit.
The unit does not display the
caller's name and/or
telephone number.
The display exits the Caller ID
List while viewing caller
information.
10.3.3 Cordless handset
Problem
The cordless handset does
not work.
The cordless handset display
is blank.
The cordless handset will not
turn ON.
I have changed the cordless
handset display language to a
language I cannot read.

Cause & Solution
L Even if there are only a few sentences, every page that comes out of the
machine is considered a full page.
L Turn OFF the following features:
– sending report: feature #04 on page 43.
– journal report: feature #22 on page 44.
– Caller ID list: feature #26 on page 45.
L The memory reception alert of feature #44 is ON (page 46), and the unit has
a document in memory. Press {STOP} to stop the beeps, then see the
displayed message instructions to solve the problem.
L Use the speakerphone in a quiet room.
L If you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume.
L The cordless handset is too far from the base unit.
L You need to subscribe to a Caller ID service.
L Other telephone equipment may be interfering with your phone. Disconnect
it and try again.
L Other electrical appliances connected to the same outlet may be interfering
with the Caller ID information.
L Telephone line noise may be affecting the Caller ID information.
L The caller requested not to send his/her information (page 25).
L Depending on the service of the local telephone company, caller information
may not be displayed on the cordless handset in TEL/FAX mode. In this
case, change the TEL/FAX ring setting to 1 (feature #78 on page 48).
L If a call is being transferred to you, the caller information will not be
displayed.
L Do not pause for over 1 minute on the cordless handset or 3 minutes on the
base unit while viewing.
Cause & Solution
L Make sure that the battery is installed correctly (page 15) and fully charge
it (page 17).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 17).
L Turn the cordless handset power OFF, then ON (page 17).
L Check that the mains lead is connected properly.
L The cordless handset has not been registered to the base unit. Register the
cordless handset (page 53).
L Re-install the batteries (page 15) and fully charge them.
L The cordless handset is not turned ON. Turn the power ON (page 17).
L Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 15).
L Fully charge the batteries (page 17).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 17).
L Change the cordless handset display language (page 52).
