4. A spider web in the shape of a regular octagon is such that each of the eight
triangular regions shown in the figure has the same shape and size as the
shaded region. If the distance from the center of the web to point R is 8
inches and equals the distance from the center of the web to point S, find
the total area enclosed by the web. Find the perimeter of the web.
5. Yum-Yum Burgers Corporation is considering purchasing a corner lot in
town for a drive-through hamburger restaurant. They have decided to by
the land if the price is $9000 or less. If the lot is triangular in shape with
sides of lengths 100 feet, 50 feet, 72 feet and the owner is asking $5 per
square foot, will Yum-Yum Burgers purchase the lot?
6. Jim is lost in the forest. The police have determined that they should search
the shaded region in the figure below. If each unit on the grid represents one
mile, what is the area of region that the police will search?
