1. Introduction Dear customer, Thank you for choosing the ADAM Audio GTC series. ADAM loudspeakers are built for maximum quality reproduction and audio perfection. The Home Theatre/Installation speakers of the GTC series combine the ability of producing high sound pressure levels with the ADAM-typical, low distortion, crystal clear sound. -

2. Quick Start Important Information for setup After having unpacked your loudspeakers, please allow the system to acclimate to the temperature of the room for approximately an hour. We recommend using high quality cables to guarantee optimal performance. We recommend that you retain the original packaging, as it is the best way to guarantee safe transportation should the need to do so arise. -

3. Recommendations on setup The proper positioning of your loudspeakers is of extreme importance to the sound quality. We would therefore like to give you some advice concerning room acoustics and the setting up of your loudspeakers. Since every room is unique, we can only offer general recommendations. -

4. Speaker Positioning The Stereo Triangle If the loudspeaker is going to be used for stereo applications, the optimum listening position should be at the top of an imaginary equilateral triangle with the two loudspeakers should be placed at the other two points of this triangle. -

Horizontal setup of the GTC 55 If you choose to use two GTC55 speakers as a stereo pair in a horizontal position please make sure that the set up is mirrored/symmetrical, i.e. that the bass reflex ports of both loudspeakers face either inwards or outwards. -

5. Connecting the GTC Subwoofer Connections On the rear side of the subwoofer you can find balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) connectors. Before connecting the subwoofer to your audio components and the power source make sure that the subwoofer, the loudspeakers and your audio source are switched off and set the level controls fully counterclockwise. -

6. Subwoofer Placement It is common knowledge that low frequencies (below about 100Hz) are non-directional, meaning they can hardly be located by the listener. It is, however, a common misunderstanding that therefore the placement of a subwoofer does not matter. It does matter. Due to the fact that every room (geometry, furniture, etc.) is unique, the following descriptions intend to be a first introduction to the subject. -

7. GTC Sub Controls Satellite Filter The satellites in a system can be driven full range or with a 85 Hz high pass as recommended by Dolby® laboratories for use in surround set- ups. Recommendation: If possible the main signal should go into the Subwoofer. -

In-wall Installation If you plan an in-wall installation of your GTC speakers the following explanations may help you to find the right location: The distance between each loudspeaker and your listening position should be about the same. The closer the listening position is in relation to the loudspeakers, the closer the speakers can be positioned to each other. -

9. Troubleshooting All ADAM products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards. However, if any problems with your speaker occur, we recommend to proceed as follows: Problem: You hear only a distorted or no audio signal at all. If both (all) speakers are affected, the reason can probably be found within the signal path. -

2. Quick Start Allgemeine Hinweise zur Inbetriebnahme Nach dem Auspacken und der Aufstellung der Lautsprecher sollten diese ca. eine Stunde unangeschlossen „ruhen”, um sich der jeweiligen Raumtemperatur anpas- sen zu können. Bitte beachten Sie, dass diese Lautsprecher, abhängig von Pegel und Nutzungs- frequenz, einige Tage benötigen, um seine optimale Klangqualität zu erreichen. -

3. Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung Von besonderer Bedeutung für den Klang ist die Art der Aufstellung der Lautsprecher im Raum. Im Folgenden möchten wir Ihnen einige Hinweise zur Raumakustik geben. Es kann sich dabei nur Empfehlungen handeln, da jeder Raum individuell ist. Wir hoffen gleichwohl, dass sie Ihnen bei der Positionierung Ihrer Lautsprecher hilfreich sein werden. -

4. Positionierung der Lautsprecher Zweikanal-Stereo Die gemeinhin günstigste Lautsprecheraufstellung im Zweikanal-Stereobetrieb ist das so genannte ‚Stereodreieck’. Die Lautsprecher und das Publikum stehen bzw. sitzen in den Eckpunkten eines gleichseitigen Dreiecks (60°-Winkel). Im Allgemeinen gilt, dass der Abstand der Lautsprecher zueinander dem Hörabstand entsprechen sollte. -

Mitteltönersegment in der mittleren Kammer des rechten Lautsprechers um 90° in die entgegengesetzte Richtung als beim linken Lautsprecher gedreht werden muss. 5. Anschluss des GTC-Subwoofers Hinweis zum Anschluss Die Subwooferanschlüsse befinden sich auf der Rückseite. Verwenden sie entweder XLR oder Cinch (RCA) Kabel, um den Subwoofer mit ihrem Vorverstärker Ihrer Audio- Anlage zu verbinden. Vergewissern Sie sich vor Anschluss der Kabel, dass sowohl der Subwoofer (Netz- schalter) als auch die betreffenden Komponenten Ihrer Audio-Anlage ausgeschaltet sind und stellen Sie die Lautstärke auf Minimum. -

6. Empfehlungen zur Subwoofer-Aufstellung Bekannt ist, dass tiefe Frequenzen (unterhalb von ca. 100 Hz) vom menschlichen Ohr schwer ortbar sind. Das bedeutet aber nicht, dass die Platzierung eines Subwoofers im Raum bedeutungslos wäre. Da nahezu jeder Raum in Maßen und Möblierung von allen anderen abweicht, können die folgenden Ausführungen nur einführende Hinweise darstellen. -

Bedienelemente des GTC Sub Am rückseitig angebrachten Kontrollpanel finden Sie Einstellmöglichkeiten wie den Satellitenfilter, einen Phasenumkehrschalter, einen Signal on/Continous Mode- Schalter und Regler für den Sub Level/Filter. 7. Bedienelemente des GTC Sub Satellite Filter (Satellitenfilter) Die am zugehörigen Ausgang angeschlossenen Satelliten können entweder „flat”, also ohne Bassbegrenzung betrieben oder mit einem 85Hz-Hochpassfilter versehen werden, welcher der diesbezüglichen Empfehlung der Dolby®-Labs für SurroundSound-Wiedergabe entspricht. Wenn möglich schicken Sie das Signal zunächst in den Verstärker des Subwoofers und von dort in die Satelliten. -

8. Installation Für die Festinstallation der GTC-Lautsprecher in Ihren Räumlichkeiten beachten Sie bitte die folgenden Hinweise bei der Auswahl des Einbauorts: Der Abstand beider Lautsprecher zum Hörplatz des Publikums sollte gleich groß sein. Je näher sich das Publikum an den Lautsprechern befindet, desto geringer kann auch der Abstand zwischen den Lautsprechern sein. -

9. Fehlerbehebung Alle ADAM Produkte werden nach höchsten Qualitätsstandards gefertigt. Sollte wider Erwarten dennoch ein Problem auftauchen, empfehlen wir, zunächst folgende Maßnahmen durchzuführen: Problem: Sie hören kein oder nur ein gestörtes Signal: Betrifft das Problem beide Lautsprecher, liegt die Ursache zumeist innerhalb der Signalkette;... -

Erfahrung zeigt, dass es sehr schwierig ist, mit allgemeinen Verpackungsmitteln einen sicheren Transport zu ermöglichen. Für Schäden, die von unzureichenden Verpackungsmaß- nahmen herrühren, kann ADAM Audio nicht haftbar gemacht werden. Sollte für einen Transport die Originalverpackung nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen, kann eine neue von ADAM Audio kostenpflichtig erworben werden. -
