6.5 Changing the Power Curve with the Sunny Data PC
Software and the USB Service Interface
In addition to the communication possibilities described in section 7, you can also set
parameters using the optional "USB service interface". This special cable enables direct
communication between a PC and an individual Windy Boy. The extensions mentioned
in section 7 are not necessary for this purpose.
You will need to install the Sunny Data software on your PC. This software is available
for free from the download area at www.SMA.de. The Sunny Data software is a PC
program for direct monitoring and configuration of your Windy Boy, and also allows
visualization and logging of system parameters.
Note that the USB service interface can only be used by opening the
Windy Boy and that the safety instructions in your Windy Boy's operating
and installation manuals must be observed.
Once you have finished setting the parameters, the service interface must
be removed and the Windy Boy must be closed again. This solution is
therefore not suitable for permanent installation.
Necessary Equipment:
• Windy Boy WB 1100LV
• PC or laptop with Windows 2000, Windows XP Home or Windows XP
Professional with a free USB port.
• PC software Sunny Data, version 1.81 or higher (available as a free download at
www.SMA.de).
• USB service interface (type code: USBPBS).
In order to configure the Windy Boy, a DC input voltage - within the MPP range
of the Windy Boy - must be present. The Windy Boy must also be connected to the
grid voltage.
Only change the operating parameters if you know exactly what you are doing!
