Questions and answers
When turning gas valve from pilot to on position the pilot flame goes out,the main burner never comes on, model RUVS0D / serial N5903 thank you for your help
The pilot flame may go out, and the main burner may not ignite when turning the gas valve to the "on" position for the following reasons:
1. Gas supply line shut-off valve is not fully open: Ensure the gas supply line shut-off valve is fully open.
2. Loose thermocouple connection: Inspect the thermocouple connection at the control valve and tighten it securely.
3. Pilot flame does not touch the thermocouple: This may be due to:
- Incorrect gas pressure (adjust the inlet supply pressure to the specified range: NG 5.5” w.c.-14.0” w.c., LP 11.0” w.c.-14.0” w.c.).
- Other issues that require a qualified service technician.
4. Damaged thermocouple: A damaged thermocouple will need to be inspected and replaced by a gas service technician.
5. Damaged control valve: If the control valve is damaged, a gas service technician should inspect and repair it.
