Installing the Memory

Before attempting to install any memory, make sure that the memory you have is compatible with the
motherboard as well as the processor. D1691 board supports up to eight 240-pin 1.8-Volt DDR-II 400
Registered ECC DIMM modules. The DDR2-400 memory modules can be using 256Mb, 512Mb and
1Mb memory chips. DDR-I or Unbuffered DDR memory modules are not supported by D1691 design.
Here are a few key points to note before installing memory into your D1691:
● 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB registered ECC DDR-II memory modules are supported
● Up to four single-ranked or up to two dual-ranked modules per channel supported
● All installed memory will be automatically detected - no need to set any jumpers
● The D1691 supports up to 16 GB of memory
● You can install either single- or double-sided modules on this board. Please note that the
same type and density memory modules are necessary, otherwise it may cause system
instability.

All DIMMS must be added in pairs! All DIMMS must be the same type and size

The D1691 supports DDR-II Registered type memory modules and requires minimum two
memory modules to power up the system. Unbuffered or DDR-I Memory is NOT
supported.
