This technique gives full scope to your imagination but requires some artistic
ability. Each movement of the subject is broken down and reproduced in a
series of drawings, each showing a fractional part of the movement. These
drawings are made on sheets of acetate then placed, in order, on the animation
table and filmed frame by frame.
Each frame must be sharply drawn. If you are making a colour film, hatch the
backs of the acetate sheets to make the drawings stand out. The position of the
drawings must be carefully matched by means of punched holes to ensure good
continuity.
