Fade-out. A gradual darkening at the end of the last scene avoids an abrupt
finish.
The fade-out can be slower than the fade-in and is achieved in the same
way, only In reverse order.

of linking two
sequences.

To produce a lap dissolve:
1. Close the sequence with a fade-out, without interrupting filming and without

regard to the frame counter.

Lock the shutter in the "closed" position.

Set the t"¥o dials of the frame counter to
zero.

Disengage the motor and rewind the film in reverse until the frame counter
indicates the figures corresponding to the duration of the fade-out. An
example is shown on the table opposite (page
23).

Move the side release to STOP and the lever to MOT.
~
Frame the second sequence and release the shutter lever.

Press the release and simultaneously make a fade-in of the same length as
the previous
fade-out.
