EV Compensation

This allows you to deliberately over-expose (brighten) or under-expose
(darken) your picture. The exposure compensation range is -3 EV to +3 EV
in 0.5 EV steps.
1
Turn the b dial to set the
desired compensation value
while holding down the
Exposure compensation
button.
2
Confirm the compensation
value in the viewfinder or on
the LCD panel.
The set value and m are displayed
during compensation.
How to read the viewfinder bar graph
If the [9] are on the negative side of the bar graph, it indicates
under-exposure. If they are on the positive side, it indicates over-
exposure. One dot on the bar graph indicates 0.5 step (0.5 EV).
• The exposure compensation cannot be canceled by turning the camera off,
or by setting any other exposure mode.
• Press the green button to reset the exposure compensation value to 0 while
pressing the exposure compensation button.
• You can set a custom function to allow setting exposure compensation by 0.3
steps (EV). See page 115 for setting Custom Functions.
