Your phone supports the two GSM message features: Short
Message Services (SMS) and Cell Broadcast.

SMS Messages
These are text messages sent to and from your phone number.
How your phone alerts you to incoming messages depends on
the SMS Alert setting. (See "SMS Alert" on page 75.)
Message Notification When SMS Alert Is Set to On
If SMS Alert is set to On , your phone alerts you to incoming
messages by:
• displaying the o (messages) icon
• making three short alert tones (depending on the
Vibrate setting)
• displaying Message , along with the prompt
If you press O, you see a message animation and the contents
of the new message.
If you press C, the phone returns to the screen displayed
before the message was received.
If you press any other key, your phone performs the function
associated with that key.
If no key is pressed, the display times out after one minute and
returns to the screen displayed before the message was received.
Message Notification When SMS Alert Is Set to Off
When SMS Alert is set to Off
incoming messages only be displaying the o (messages) icon.
You will not receive any other notification that a message
has been received.
