WARRANTY
Yamaha M o t o r C o r p o r a t i o n , U.S.A. hereby w a r r a n t s
each n e w m o d e l Y a m a h a m o t o r c y c l e w i l l be free f r o m
defects in material and w o r k m a n s h i p for the period of
t i m e stated herein, subject to certain stated limitations.
THE PERIOD OF WARRANTY for Yamaha motorcycles
originally e q u i p p e d w i t h headlight, stoplight, and t u r n
signals shall be one (1) year f r o m the date of purchase,
w i t h no mileage l i m i t a t i o n .
MODELS EXCLUDED FROM W A R R A N T Y
those used for non-Yamaha-authorized r e n t i n g , leas-
i n g , or o t h e r c o m m e r c i a l p u r p o s e s , and TZ m o d e l s .
DURING THE PERIOD OF WARRANTY any authorized
Y a m a h a m o t o r c y c l e dealer w i l l , free of charge, repair
or replace any part adjudged defective by Yamaha due
to faulty w o r k m a n s h i p or material f r o m the factory.
Parts used in w a r r a n t y repairs w i l l be w a r r a n t e d for
the balance of the p r o d u c t ' s w a r r a n t y period. All parts
replaced under w a r r a n t y b e c o m e property of Yamaha
M o t o r Corp. U.S.A.
GENERAL E X C L U S I O N S f r o m t h i s w a r r a n t y shall
i n c l u d e any f a i l u r e s c a u s e d by:
a.
C o m p e t i t i o n or racing use.
b.
Installation of parts or accessories that are not
qualitatively equivalent to g e n u i n e Yamaha parts.
c.
A b n o r m a l strain, neglect, or abuse.
d.
Lack of proper m a i n t e n a n c e .
e.
Accident or collision d a m a g e .
f.
M o d i f i c a t i o n to o r i g i n a l parts.

include parts replaced due to n o r m a l w e a r or routine
m a i n t e n a n c e .
THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY under this war-
ranty shall be t o :
1. Operate and m a i n t a i n the m o t o r c y c l e as specified
in the a p p r o p r i a t e O w n e r ' s M a n u a l , and
2. Give notice to an authorized Yamaha m o t o r c y c l e
dealer of any and all apparent defects w i t h i n ten
(10) days after discovery, and make the machine
available at that t i m e for inspection and repairs at
such dealer's place of business.

W A R R A N T Y TRANSFER: To t r a n s f e r t h e w a r r a n t y
f r o m the o r i g i n a l p u r c h a s e r t o any s u b s e q u e n t pur-
chaser, it is i m p e r a t i v e that the machine be inspected
and registered for w a r r a n t y by an authorized Y a m a h a
m o t o r c y c l e dealer. In order for this w a r r a n t y to remain
in effect, t h i s i n s p e c t i o n and r e g i s t r a t i o n m u s t take
place within ten (10) days after transfer. An inspection and
r e g i s t r a t i o n fee w i l l be c h a r g e d for this service.
EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM WARRANTY
Yamaha M o t o r Corporation, U.S.A. also warrants to the
ultimate purchaser and each subsequent purchaser of
each Yamaha motorcycle covered by this warranty
w i t h a d i s p l a c e m e n t of 50cc or greater, that the v e h i -
cle is d e s i g n e d , built, and e q u i p p e d so as t o c o n f o r m
at the t i m e of sale w i t h all U.S. e m i s s i o n s standards
applicable at the t i m e of manufacture and that it is free
f r o m defects in materials and w o r k m a n s h i p w h i c h
w o u l d cause it not t o meet these standards w i t h i n the
periods listed immediately below. Failure other than
those resulting f r o m defects in material or w o r k m a n -
ship w h i c h arise solely as a result of o w n e r abuse
and / or lack of proper maintenance are not covered by
this warranty.
