10.6 Calculating model costs
The main factor that will affect model cost is the honeycomb fill structure and support material. If,
for example, one is printing a cube measuring 30mm x 30mm x 30mm, with a layer thickness of
0.25mm, the following quantities of material are used depending on the print mode.

The easiest way to calculate how much material will be used for your model is to use the "Print
Preview" option under the "3D Print" menu. This will tell you the total weight of material used,
including the raft and any support material.
The price as 6/10/12 for ABS plastic from
www.3DPrintingSystems.com
was AU$59 per 1KG
working out to be 0.06 cents per gram.
11. Model Removal
When the model has finished printing, the printer will beep, and the nozzle and platform stop
heating. Open the door, remove the clips and slide the Perfboard out from the printer platform.
Slide the spatula under the model and slowly wiggle it back and forth to pry loose the model.
TIP: Remember to use gloves as the platform and model may still be hot. The spatula is sharp,
gloves must be worn.
