Positioning the set
The loudspeaker is positioned on the bottom of the unit.
To achieve good sound, the support must be mounted as
shown.
• Remove the mounting support from the unit.
• Install the support on the bottom of the unit, as shown in
the illustration, until it clicks into position.
Caution should be exercised if the set is placed on furniture
as surfaces are often coated with lacquers and plastic
finishes containing additives which attack the material of
which the feet of the set are made, leaving stains which can
only be removed with difficulty or not at all.
Mounting the unit under a shelf
You can also mount the unit under a shelf with the four screws
provided.
• Remove the mounting support from the unit.
• Mark the position of the screws on the bottom side of the
shelf.
• Screw the mounting support to the shelf.
• Click the radio into position, as indicated in the illustration.
• To release the unit, push down the brackets on the rear side.

PREPARATIONS FOR USE

Connecting the unit
The unit is designed to operate from a mains supply of 230 V,
50/60 Hz
Additional information for units sold in Great
Britain:
Units sold in GB are suitable for operation from a 240 V
AC, 50 Hz mains supply.
We recommend that a 13 amp 3-pin plug fitted with a 3
amp fuse is used. The brown lead must be connected to
the live pin (marked L or coloured brown or red) and the
blue lead to the neutral pin (marked N or coloured blue or
black). On no account should either wire be connected to
the earth pin (marked E or e or coloured green/yellow). If
other mains plugs are used, ensure that they are protected
by a 5 amp fuse.
When the set is connected for the first time or after a power failure
(without standby battery fitted), the time shown is 0:00.
The unit remains connected to the mains even when it is
switched off. The unit is only fully isolated from the mains if
the mains plug is removed from the wall socket.
Standby-battery – mains failure
If a standby battery is fitted, the clock will continue to operate
during mains failure and the clock will still be displayed.
However, the timer and radio functions are not available.
• Insert a 9 V alkaline battery (IEC 6 LF 22) into the battery
compartment in the base of the set.
• Insert the battery only after the unit has been connected to
the mains in order to prevent unnecessary drain. We
recommend that the battery is replaced approximately once
a year.
• If the clock radio is to be disconnected for a long period, the
standby battery should be removed, otherwise it may
discharge too quickly and may leak.
Setting the clock time
• If the set is not in CLOCK mode, press the MODE button
until 'CLOCK' appears on the display.
• Press the MEMO/SET button and hold it pressed.
• Use the DOWN/HR button to set the hours and the
UP/MIN button to set the minutes.
– A single press of the DOWN/HR or UP/MIN button
advances the setting by 1 hour or 1 minute respectively. If
the button is held pressed, the setting advances rapidly.
– The minutes will not be carried over to the hours if, for
example, the minutes indication changes from '59' to '00'.
• Release the MEMO/SET button.
