NOTE:
Running the tunesys command does not eliminate the need to run the tunepd command.
The tunesys command performs space based balancing. The tunepd command performs service
time and I/O based balancing.
The tunesys command verifies that LDs associated with a CPG have the same characteristics as
the CPG. If the LD characteristics do not match the CPG, the LD is modifed to match the CPG
characteristics.

Displaying Virtual Volume Space Distribution

The showvvcpg command displays how virtual volume space is distributed among CPGs.
Display virtual volume space distribution by issuing the showvvcpg -domain
<domain_name|pattern> <vv_name|pattern|vv_set> command, where:
-domain <domain_name|pattern> designates only virtual volumes that are in domains
with names matching one or more of the specified domain names or patterns is displayed.
Only virtual volumes within domains that the user is a member of can be listed. Multiple domain
names or patterns can be repeated using a comma-separated list.
<vv_name|pattern|set:vv_set_name> indicates which virtual volumes, patterns, or
virtual volume sets are displayed. The virtual volume set specifier must start with set: and
followed by a virtual volume set name or pattern.
For more information about the showvvcpg command, see the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage
Command Line Interface Reference.

Tuning and Modifying Virtual Volumes

Use the tunevv command to improve the performance of a system by modifying the virtual volumes
to use all available hardware resources. You can also change the parameters, RAID levels, and
set sizes for virtual volumes. Modifying virtual volumes does not interrupt access to the virtual
volumes.
A good time to use the tunevv command is after changing the hardware configuration of your
system. When a system is upgraded by adding nodes, cages, or physical disks, the initial volume
and LD layouts may no longer be optimal for the new system configuration. Tuning your system
enables you to optimize the layout of volumes for the new system configuration.
You can schedule, monitor, and manage the tunevv command operations as a system task. For
information about system tasks, see
For more information about when to use the Dynamic Optimization feature and the tunevv
command, see the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Concepts Guide.

Changing Virtual Volume Layouts

Use the tunevv command to change the virtual volume's parameters, RAID levels, and set sizes
by associating the virtual volume with a new CPG.
To change the layout of volumes following a hardware upgrade, perform the following:
Procedure 1
1.
Create a new CPG. See
2.
Change the layout of the volume by issuing the tunevv usr_cpg <CPG_name> <VV_name>
command, where:
usr_cpg <CPG_name> is the name of the CPG created previously in
the user space of the new CPG will be used.
<VV_name> is the volume you are modifying.
