4. Format the disk (example address used).
In the previous example, you would type:
newfs /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0
To also specify the file system (as HFS, for example) the command would be:
newfs -F hfs /dev/ rdsk/ c0t3d0
(use newfs -F vxfs if specifying VXFS file system)
5. Mount the disk (example address used).
use mkdir to create a directory.
use mount /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0 /<directory created>
Obtaining HP-UX Patches
Your HP-UX system may require software patches to ensure that the 9000mx will
install and operate correctly with your system.
If you have access to the World Wide Web, do the following steps:
1. Go to the URL listed below and determine if any patches are required for your
system:
http://www.hp.com/go/optical
2. Download the required patch IDs from the following URL:
USA
http://us-support.external.hp.com
EUROPE
http://europe-support.external.hp.com
If you do not have access to the World Wide Web, do the following steps:
1. To obtain the current list of patches needed for Hewlett-Packard optical
products, send email to:
ssdg_tech_sup@hpgrla.gr.hp.com

2. To receive instructions for downloading required HP-UX patches via email,
send an email message to:
support@support.mayfield.hp.com
