    This manual provides you with an easy and secure way to set up a wireless home network. For more information about the topics covered in this manual, visit the support website at http://support.netgear.com. If you have not already set up your new router using the installation guide that comes in the box, this chapter walks you through the hardware setup.

    N300 Wireless Router JWNR2000v3 Position Your Router The router lets you access your network from virtually anywhere within the operating range of your wireless network. However, the operating distance or range of your wireless connection can vary significantly depending on the physical placement of your router. For example, the thickness and number of walls the wireless signal passes through can limit the range.

Before you start the setup process, get your ISP information and make sure the computers and devices in the network have the settings described here.

    NETGEAR genie Setup NETGEAR genie runs on any device with a web browser. It is the easiest way to set up the router because it automates many of the steps and verifies that those steps have been successfully completed.

    N300 Wireless Router JWNR2000v3 Basic Settings Screen Fields The following descriptions explain all of the possible fields in the Basic Settings screen. The fields that display in this screen depend on whether an ISP login is required. Does Your ISP Require a Login? Answer either yes or no.

    Name (SSID). The SSID is also known as the wireless network name. Enter a 32-character (maximum) name in this field. This field is case-sensitive. The default SSID is randomly generated, and NETGEAR strongly recommends that you do not change this setting.
