    • Clean the cooktop with caution. If a wet sponge or cloth is used to wipe spills on a hot surface unit, be careful to avoid steam burns. Some cleansers can produce noxious fumes if applied to a hot surface.
  • Page 4 (continued) • Be careful when placing spoons or other stirring utensils on glass cooktop surface when it is in use. They may become hot and could cause burns. • Avoid heating an empty pan. Doing so may damage the cooktop and the pan.

    After turning the control off, the glass cooktop is hot from the heat of the pan, but cooking stops right away. Heats by direct contact with the pan, so pans must be flat on the bottom for good cooking results.

    CAUTION: When the surface controls are turned off, the HOT SURFACE indicator light will remain lit until the cooktop surface has cooled to approximately 150°F. The glass ceramic surface will retain heat after the indicator light goes out.

    Observe the Following Points in Canning 1. Be sure the canner fits over the center of the surface unit. If your cooktop or its location does not allow the canner to be centered on the surface unit, use smaller diameter pots for good canning results.
