- Page 21 Q : How do you clean your LC800 Series printer? Can you vacuum it? A: NEC Technical Support does not recommend the use of a household vacuum cleaner to clean the LC800 series printers for two reasons. First, the toner is made up of fine particles; using a household vacuum cleaner would require special filters to trap the toner.
- Page 22 Comprehensive Support Document LC-800 Series Revision Date: 1/10/96 Cleaning LC800 printers. Problem: Grey fill on large black areas. Solution: Clean the LED Head Assembly. Turn the printer off, take out the PC Drum and put it in its case. Look inside the printer on the top for a yellow bar. Push the yellow bar up and look behind it for a label that says Head Assy.

Find the head assembly with the previous instructions. About half inch from the white wheels towards the outside of the printer, you will see a metal clip (one on each side).

If the black marks appear twice on the page, about 7 1/2 inches apart, the problem is on Drum. Try another drum to see if the problem goes away.

A higher than normal moisture content in paper can cause light spots. The white spots would gener- ally appear as dots the size of a dime on your page. Sending a blank page throught the machine without printing on it and then sending it through again would dry out the page and you would be able to determine whether the problem is caused by moisture in the paper.

NOTE At this point, in an effort to get the customer's printer running temporarily, you can bypass the microswitch and reset the PC count as follows: After disconnecting the faston terminals, close the upper unit, plug in and turn on the printer, and open the upper unit.
