Comprehensive
LC-800 Series
Problem: Light print.
Solution:
Try new paper. Clean inside the transfer wire assembly area.
A higher than normal moisture content in paper can cause light spots. The white spots would gener-
ally appear as dots the size of a dime on your page. Sending a blank page throught the machine
without printing on it and then sending it through again would dry out the page and you would be
able to determine whether the problem is caused by moisture in the paper.
Cleaning inside the transfer wire is another possible solution. Turn the printer off, take out the PC
Drum and put it in its case. On the bottom of the printer in the center, you will see a silver box with
diagonal wires wrapping around it. Inside this box is a very thin wire that goes from left to right.
Take a Q-tip and alcohol and clean the wires and inside this box. Toner will get into this box making
the wire weak so the toner doesn't get transferred from the PC Drum to the paper. Be very careful
with the wires.
Above the transfer wire, there is a metal paper guide that is about 1 inch by 10 inches. When the
cover is closed, the developer unit sits on this paper guide. If you had toner on the bottom of the
developer unit, more than likely, you will have toner here also. It will also cause black marks on the
page.
