9.0 Troubleshooting

Visit the Pharos website (
troubleshooting and latest updates.
Some things to watch for:
Know how to do a "Soft Reset" on your Pocket PC as per your
Pocket PC manual. This can resolve a large number of
issues.
With a serial-based GPS setup, you may need to disable the
external keyboard for your PDA in your Programs list, if you
have one. It may need to be disabled every time you soft
reset, as most are programmed to be enabled by default.
Make sure you are outside in an area clear of any obstructions
that may block the GPS satellite signals to your GPS receiver.
Obstructions include large buildings, as well as mountains,
tunnels, and even large trees planted very close together
To use a storage card for map storage, make sure the *.cash,
*.food, *.fuel, *.hotel, *.inx, and *.rmf files (total of 6 files) for
each map are stored in a "My Documents" folder and that the
folder is not located inside any other folders or directories. It
must appear as follows to function properly:
My Documents
(Take note of spacing and capitalization. They are important.)
The Registration key is located on the inside flap of the
cardboard CD holder, and the UPC code is on the back
When trying to connect your device to your laptop/tablet/PC,
you need to have the latest version of ActiveSync installed and
showing that it is both Connected and Synchronized. If you do
not have the latest version, you can download it from
www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile. Devices using Windows
Mobile 5.0 or higher require ActiveSync 4.2 or higher
Since the Canadian highway map does not cover the entire
country, when trying to route in Canada across long distances,
and you are unable to create a route using the highway map,
try opening all the necessary local maps to create the route
