Finish all edges and fronts to clearances and
specifi cations listed in manual.
• Metal appliance front may be covered with non-
combustible material only.
• Do NOT overlap combustible materials onto appliance
front.
• Install combustible materials up to specifi ed clearances
on top, front and side.
• Seal joints between the fi nished wall and appliance top
and sides using only a 300º F minimum sealant.
C. Finishing Material Requirements
NOTE: Optional fi rescreen sits out 1-3/4 inches from
the face of the appliance. When using thin fi nishing
material, you may want to use thicker non-combustible
backer board to bring the fi nishing material fl ush with
the fi rescreen. This is not required.
When fi nishing the front of the appliance, no combustible
materials can overlap the face of the appliance except
the 4 inch high area below the appliance opening (see
Figure 11.4).

There are two different ways this unit can be set and
fi nished. Figure 11.5 shows the appliance face fl ush with
the wall covering material. Use the nailing tabs that are set
back 1/2 inch on the sides of the appliance.

Figure 11.6 shows the second way the appliance can be
set, with appliance face fl ush with the stud. Use the forward
set of nailing tabs for this method.

In either case, combustible materials must not overlap
the metal face of the appliance, and no fi nishing material
can pass the 3/8 inch metal edge around the opening and
overhang into the glass opening.
