Fig. 5.34 Formant Filter.
▪ FORMANT: Amount of formant shift (semitones) of the filter.
STRETCH: Stretches the filter curve along the frequency axis.
▪ CENTER: Center frequency (semitones) of the stretch. The point on the filter curve at
this frequency is unmoved by the stretch while the curve parts below and above this
center are stretched away from it.
▪ SELECT: Selects one of 32 wave shapes: 1-3: for subtle coloration and grittiness, 4-11:
phasey and peaky 12-19: lowpass 20-23: bandpass & highpass 24-27: notch 28-32:
harmonic.

5.10.12 Formant Decay

Similar to 'Formant' filter but with a unique 'Decay' feature. Filter curve affects the decay /
rising time of the partial amplitude. This effect is similar to a filter that is put inside a
feedback delay loop where the audio signal gets filtered again and again.
Fig. 5.35 Formant Decay Filter.
▪ FORMANT: Amount of formant shift (semitones) of the filter.
DECAY:
Master decay / rising time. The actual decay / rising time depends on the filter
curve and the 'Thresh' setting.
▪ THRESH: Amplitude threshold. Parts of the filter curve that lie above this threshold are
rising in amplitude. Parts below are falling.
